Honoring Andrea Niehoff Goodson

Andrea Niehoff Goodson was more than a volunteer; she was Hanover’s greatest community cheerleader and Santa’s best elf.

For years, Andrea poured her heart into making Christmas in Hanover a magical experience for families throughout the community. As a leader of the Hanover Christmas Committee, she helped transform downtown Hanover into a destination filled with holiday spirit, joy, and cherished traditions.

Andrea was instrumental in preserving beloved Hanover traditions, including the 85-year-old Santa Cabin and the annual Christmas Parade, which welcomed a record-breaking 2,600 children in 2022. Her enthusiasm, creativity, and tireless dedication brought people together and helped create memories that generations of Hanover families will carry with them.

In 2025, Main Street Hanover and the Hanover Christmas Committee honored Andrea's lasting impact with the planting of a Scarlet Oak tree and memorial plaque in Wirt Park. The tree stands as a living tribute to Andrea—a symbol of the roots she planted in our community and the legacy that will continue to grow.
