Free Holiday Parking
To make your holiday visits easier, we’re offering free parking in all metered spaces throughout the downtown district on Saturdays, from November 28 to December 27. This is our way of encouraging you to enjoy the holiday activities and support local businesses while extending your time in downtown Hanover.
Parking Meter Sweaters
Each holiday season, Main Street Hanover welcomes donations of handmade parking meter sweaters to help bring warmth, color, and festive cheer to downtown Hanover!
This beloved holiday tradition adds a whimsical touch to our streets while helping beautify downtown and create a welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors. We invite knitters, crocheters, and makers of all skill levels to share their creativity by donating a handmade meter sweater.
Interested in Donating?
Meter sweaters should be approximately 38 inches long by 10 inches wide and incorporate festive red, forest green, and white colors.
Because these sweaters are displayed outdoors throughout the holiday season, they naturally experience wear and weather. Each year, we welcome new donations and replacements to help keep this tradition going for years to come.
At the end of each season, meter sweaters are gently washed and carefully stored for future use.
